Brick Breaker (also known as Breakout) is one of the most influential arcade games ever created. Originally developed by Atari in 1976, with Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs among its creators, this paddle-and-ball game established an entire genre that remains popular today. The concept is timeless: bounce a ball off your paddle to destroy bricks while preventing it from falling off the screen.
Our modern interpretation features vibrant neon graphics, multiple levels with increasing difficulty, and exciting power-ups that transform the gameplay. With responsive controls for both desktop and mobile, this version captures the addictive nature of the original while adding contemporary visual flair.
Control the paddle at the bottom of the screen to keep the ball in play. Destroy all bricks to advance to the next level. Lose all your lives and it's game over!
The angle at which the ball bounces depends on where it hits your paddle. Hitting with the edge creates sharper angles, while center hits produce straighter returns.
Brick Breaker offers excellent cognitive training disguised as pure fun. The game develops hand-eye coordination and fine motor control as players track the fast-moving ball and make precise paddle adjustments. It builds spatial reasoning skills by requiring players to predict bounce trajectories and plan ball paths. The game also teaches physics concepts intuitively—players naturally learn about angles of incidence and reflection. Additionally, the progressive difficulty helps develop patience and persistence as players learn from failures and improve their techniques.
The game features multiple levels with unique brick patterns. Each level becomes progressively more challenging with different brick arrangements and speeds.
Power-ups include paddle extenders to make catching easier, multi-ball to clear bricks faster, speed changes, and more. Catch them with your paddle to activate them!
The game pauses automatically when you click outside the game area or switch browser tabs. The ball also waits for you to click at the start of each life.
Ball speed can increase as you progress through levels or after hitting certain bricks. Some power-ups can also affect ball speed temporarily.
There's no hard maximum—your score depends on how far you can progress and how efficiently you clear bricks. Challenge yourself to beat your personal best!
